Our Commitment

FarmerJer.com is committed to making our website and newsletter content as accessible and readable as possible for everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe good gardening knowledge should be available to all, and we work to remove barriers wherever we reasonably can.

Website Accessibility

We aim to follow generally accepted web accessibility best practices, including those outlined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Our efforts include:

•  Using clear, plain language that is easy to read and understand.

•  Providing descriptive alt text on images where possible.

•  Using sufficient colour contrast between text and background elements.

•  Structuring content with proper headings to support screen reader navigation.

•  Ensuring links are descriptive and make sense out of context.

•  Designing pages to be navigable by keyboard as well as mouse.

Physical Newsletter Accessibility

Our monthly physical newsletter is printed and mailed to subscribers. We make the following efforts to keep it accessible:

•  We use readable font sizes and clear layouts throughout each issue.

•  We write in plain, conversational language and avoid unnecessary jargon.

•  Visual content such as planting plans and diagrams includes written descriptions.

•  We are happy to discuss individual accessibility needs on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out and we will do our best to accommodate reasonable requests.

Braille

We regret that we are not currently able to offer the physical newsletter in Braille format. As a small independent operation, the resources required to produce Braille editions are beyond our current capacity. We hope to explore additional accessible formats in the future as FarmerJer grows.

Known Limitations

While we strive for best practices, we are a small site and may not achieve full WCAG compliance across every page and piece of content at all times. We are continuously improving. If you encounter a barrier, please let us know and we will prioritize fixing it.
